'Fantasy Day' at Boothroyd Junior and Infants School
Boothroyd have 'Fantasy Days' which provide a wide range of activities for pupils, like story telling, performance and dance. I was invited to design a workshop that allowed pupils to make artwork using the fantasy theme. Children constructed figurative sculptures that could hang in a newly built garden space at the school.
Boothroyd organised a school trip to The Craft Centre & Design Gallery where pupils saw and studied an exhibition of my work. This provided inspiration for the work produced during the fantasy day.
Pupils worked with a wide variety of materials (most found and collected) and the sculptures produced were imaginative and cleverly constructed. The event was a great success and I have since been invited back for a 2006 'Fantasy Day'.
